Our Story
Critical Studios was founded by Michael White in 2023 as a way to bring together the things that have shaped his life: storytelling, art, Dungeons & Dragons, stand-up comedy, performance, professional wrestling, creative merch, and community.
Since childhood, Michael has been fascinated not just by stories, but by the many ways they can be told. Over the years, that passion grew into a desire to help people and organizations share their own stories through imaginative experiences, meaningful design, live events, and creative strategy.
Critical Studios became the home for that work — a place where creativity, storytelling, and community come together. Through Critical Connections, Critical Productions, and Critical Creations, we create experiences that help people connect, build confidence, and discover the power of their own story.
In 2026, Michael and Carrie White founded Spotlight Conservatory to create a place where artists, creators, and storytellers of all ages could find and develop their passion. Spotlight was built to provide meaningful training, real opportunities, and a welcoming creative home for students and families who believe in the power of the arts.
We are incredibly thankful for the support we have received and are excited to begin Spotlight Conservatory’s inaugural season. This is just the beginning, and we cannot wait to see the stories our students, families, artists, and community will create together.
